A Married Couple Gets Concerned About Their Hazardous and Irresponsible Drinking, How it is Affecting Their Relationship, and Ponders Whether They Exhibit Any Alcohol Addiction Signs

Written by bmlengel on July 27th, 2009

Sarah and Jerry have been married for three years. They wanted to experience some excitement and fun before they made up their minds to have a family and so they deliberately constructed an extremely dynamic social life.

The chief problem, it needs to be emphasized, is that nearly everything they do for excitement is associated with drinking. For instance, all of the family get-togethers, parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, and sporting events they spend time at are associated with drinking.

Jerry and Sarah Begin to Notice Some Instantly Noticeable Alcohol Related Issues That are Related to Their Irresponsible Drinking

If they were infrequent drinkers, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Because they drink quite irresponsibly, however, they are starting to see some obvious alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.

For instance, just five weeks ago Jerry was placed under arrest for a third DWI and has been leaving early from work due to alcohol-related health problems. Moreover, Jerry’s last three performance reviews at work have been less than creditable and he has begun to forget what he does or says when he drinks. Finally, Jerry has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to display some disquiet about his drinking problems.

Not unlike Jerry’s situation, Sarah has been feeling disheartened with life and to handle these feelings, she has been drinking more repeatedly than any time in the past ten months. Moreover, Sarah has been experiencing more than a few throbbing migraine headaches and experiencing intense hangovers from drinking. Lastly, Sarah has been feeling significantly less energetic when she awakens, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been receiving some cruel criticism from her coworkers, family members, relatives, and friends about her abusive drinking.

Watching the TV and Flipping the Channels and Discovering A Fascinating Program About the Signs of Alcohol Addiction

One Monday evening while watching TV, Sarah and Jerry accidently found a special documentary about the signs of alcoholism.

This television special was a real shock to Jerry and Sarah because several of the alcoholism signs that were discussed gave them the impression that they were unquestionably associated with some of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been suffering through.

An Open Talk About Drinking Circumstances Discloses Alcohol Related Health, Employment, Financial, Relationship, and Legal Problems

After watching the TV documentary, Sarah and Jerry decided to have an open talk about their drinking condition. They both agreed that most, if not all, of their social pursuits had something to do with drinking, that they were drinking excessively, and that as a married couple, they were starting to see alcohol related employment, health, legal, financial, and relationship problems for the first time in their lives.

With thoughts of the TV program still etched in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been manifesting could be a signal that they are alcoholic or perhaps becoming alcoholic. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local alcohol rehab center to find out more about the severity of their drinking situation.

Tackling Your Drinking Problems May Decrease Your Nervousness and Give You Some Serenity

Paradoxically, even though their drinking circumstances hadn’t yet changed, it was clear that Sarah and Jerry were at least dealing with their drinking issues, they were willing to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in learning how they could appreciably decrease or eliminate the alcohol-related problems that had begun to go from bad to worse.

When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that night, they made up their minds that the next day, Jerry would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehabilitation center located in the next town. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to rise above the drinking problems that had become apparent in their lives, they in point of fact had the most revitalizing night’s sleep they could remember in the last nine months.

Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and mentioned how simple it is to decrease one’s apprehension and truly experience a degree of peacefulness by handling one’s problems with conviction and making up one’s mind to do something constructive about them.
